July 25, 2013 - Day Out of Time

The Day Out of Time is the day to celebrate time is art. This is what hundreds of thousands of people who follow the new calendar do every year. Art is the basis of constructive peace, this day is also celebrated as International Peace through Culture Day. Peace through culture is a fundamental premise of the 13 moon/28-day calendar. When you celebrate time is art you are promoting peace through culture.  If you go to most any Day Out of Time celebration you will see the banner of peace. The symbol on that banner signifies the unity of art, science and spirituality. Since 1935, this banner has been internationally recognized as an instrument of peace – peace through culture. As the saying has it, "Where there is peace there is culture, where there is culture there is peace."  So, wherever the day out of time is celebrated, there is a purpose of experiencing time as art, and of promoting the constructive value of peace through culture. Of course, this can take many forms – as many forms as there are varieties of human artistic expression. Because it is peace through culture, this day is also marked by ceremonies of universal forgiveness; it's a way of starting the New Year off on a clean, compassionate footing. You make your New Year's resolution by loving and forgiving everybody before the New Year has even begun. Give the human a harmonious standard of measure and then a harmonious human will walk a harmonious mile.

Harmony – that's what the day out of time is all about.

                    Galactic Spin

A Galactic Spin is based on the ancient Mayan Time Science, in which every 260-days we journey through a sacred spiral of time that is understood as a spiritual gestation cycle of growth and unfolding. This cycle was first mapped by the ancients of Meso-America, recording the patterns of creation's "movement and measure," a 13:20 ratio which is reflected in our human bodies as well as celestial and terrestrial cycles. Known as "Tzolkin" in Yucatec Maya, (meaning sacred count or pieces of the Sun) this Matrix is a living being - much more than simply a calendar. However, utilizing it as a calendar has immense benefits including helping one to become more conscious, more keen to synchronizations and to one's own intuitive faculties and abilities to be in harmony with Natural Time!

                     Go Hunab Ku

The Hunab Ku symbol is perhaps one of the most ubiquitous visual symbols of the Mayan Calendar culture. It means "the one god" in Yucatec Maya, and was used by the Aztecs as a ritual cloak or mantle design.  Also known as the "Galactic Butterfly," this symbol is presumed to represent the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, and by some accounts was associated with an indigenous creator god, Itzamna.

The Mayans knew where in the sky the exact center of the galaxy was located and they even had a glyph representing it which is now named Hunab Ku ; it was known to the Mayans as The Galactic Butterfly. Their entire cosmology and extremely accurate calendars were based on the existence and location of Hunab Ku and they deeply believed that the future of mankind ultimately depends on what occurs there.

Hunab Ku was, to the Mayans, the supreme God and ultimate Creator and was located in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It represented the gateway to other galaxies beyond our Sun as well as all of the consciousness that has ever existed in this, our own galaxy. Hunab Ku, according to the Mayans, is also the consciousness which organized all matter from a whirling disk - into stars, planets and solar systems. Hunab Ku is the Mother Womb which is constantly giving birth to new stars and it gave birth to our own Sun and planet Earth as well as the other planets found in our solar system. They also believed that the ultimate Creator directs everything that happens in our galaxy from its center through the emanation of periodic energy bursts of consciousness.

The Mayas believed essentially that time flows in a circle. There is a beginning and an end to things but there is a renewal at the end of the Time Cycle. There is a periodicity with regard to all manifested phenomena. The Mayan highly accurate Long Count Calendar is based on this precept. The Mayans also believed that time originates out of the Hunab Ku and is controlled by it.

It is very difficult to dismiss the Mayan Cosmology because they left extraordinary evidence behind which verifies that their time-keeping methodologies gave extremely accurate results and, in spite of the various changes in our own calendar systems of the more recent past, still do. The ancient Mayan astronomers accurately predicted, over 1500 years ago, the exact alignment of the Earth, the Sun, the star cluster Pleiades with the center of our galaxy that will take place at the end of the present long cycle during the coming Gregorian year of 2012.
